The Risks of UAVs in Sensitive Areas: How Anti-Drone Technology Protects Airports

UAVs are everywhere. Personal use is skyrocketing as aerial photography and videography become more popular, and private companies are also hopping on the trend. Today, companies use drones for aerial surveillance, mapping, surveying, delivering goods and packages, inspecting infrastructure and assets, and providing emergency services.

And while drone technology has many legitimate applications, it raises significant concerns about privacy and security. In particular, airports are increasingly encountering issues with UAVs, with incidents of drone sightings and near misses rising. These incidents highlight the importance of anti-drone systems in safeguarding our most sensitive areas.

A Counter UAV Success Story

At C.T.S. Technology, we are dedicated to providing effective solutions to combat the threat of UAVs. Our anti-UAV system, including drone jammers, anti-drone guns, and other advanced anti-drone technology, has successfully protected airports and other sensitive areas from drone-related threats.

Recently, one of our clients, an airport, discovered a UAV flying in restricted airspace. Thanks to our anti-drone system, the airport was able to quickly and safely drive the UAV away before it could cause any harm or disruption to operations.

This incident highlights the importance of anti-drone technology in protecting sensitive areas from potential threats. UAVs can pose a serious danger to airports, both in terms of safety and security.

Here are just some of the risks of drones near airports:

  • Drones colliding with commercial planes can cause catastrophic accidents and endanger the lives of passengers and crew. For example, a drone reportedly struck an Airbus A320 passenger jet as it landed at London’s Heathrow Airport in 2016.
  • Disruption of airport operations, which can cause delays and inconvenience for travelers. For example, in 2018, Gatwick Airport in the U.K. was shut down for 36 hours due to drone sightings, causing chaos for thousands of passengers. Moreover, in 2019, a drone sighting near Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey caused flights to be grounded for about an hour.
  • Unauthorized surveillance of airport operations, can compromise security and pose a risk to public safety. For example, in 2019, a drone was spotted near a runway at Dublin Airport in Ireland, causing flights to be delayed and the airport to be temporarily shut down.

UAVs can also be used for other nefarious purposes, such as smuggling contraband into secure areas.

Mitigating Risk to Sensitive Areas With Anti-Drone Systems

Our anti-drone system can help mitigate these risks. Our drone jammers and anti-drone guns are designed to disrupt the signal between the drone and its operator, effectively neutralizing the threat.

In addition to airports, our anti-drone technology can protect other sensitive areas, such as government and military buildings and critical infrastructure.

Final Thoughts

As UAV use continues to grow, it’s more crucial than ever to have proper measures to defend against potential threats. At C.T.S. Technology, we enhance and fine-tune our products to meet the ever-changing needs of a quickly-evolving UAV landscape. We take pride in being ahead of the curve regarding anti-drone technology.
